During the 17th General Assembly of the Association Francophone des Autorités de Protection des Données Personnelles (AFAPDP), held on November 25 in Ebène, the members adopted a Resolution on the Ethical Governance of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This decision represents a major step forward in the collective reflection on regulating AI technologies within the Francophone space.
This resolution aims to:
- Ensure respect for fundamental rights in all AI applications.
- Promote transparency and accountability among actors involved in the design and deployment of intelligent systems.
- Encourage international cooperation between data protection authorities to harmonize ethical practices.
The members of AFAPDP reaffirmed their commitment to the following principles:
- Respect for privacy and protection of personal data.
- Fairness and non-discrimination in algorithms and decision-making processes.
- Security and reliability of AI systems to prevent risks and misuse.
- Traceability and explainability of automated decisions.
