Resolution on the Ethical Governance of Artificial Intelligence adopted by AFAPDP

During the 17th General Assembly of the Association Francophone des Autorités de Protection des Données Personnelles (AFAPDP), held on November 25 in Ebène, the members adopted a Resolution on the Ethical Governance of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This decision represents a major step forward in the collective reflection on regulating AI technologies within the Francophone space.

This resolution aims to:

  • Ensure respect for fundamental rights in all AI applications.
  • Promote transparency and accountability among actors involved in the design and deployment of intelligent systems.
  • Encourage international cooperation between data protection authorities to harmonize ethical practices.

The members of AFAPDP reaffirmed their commitment to the following principles:

  • Respect for privacy and protection of personal data.
  • Fairness and non-discrimination in algorithms and decision-making processes.
  • Security and reliability of AI systems to prevent risks and misuse.
  • Traceability and explainability of automated decisions.
