From 20 to 24 July 2026, Alain Herrmann, Commissioner at the CNPD, is representing the Luxembourg data protection authority at several international meetings in Singapore focusing on data protection, artificial intelligence governance and international data transfers.
These activities are taking place as part of the Singapore Data Festival 2026, held at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre at Marina Bay Sands. Coordinated by Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC), the festival brings together a series of events dedicated in particular to data protection, cybersecurity, technology and artificial intelligence.
After participating in the activities organised on 20 July, Alain Herrmann took part in the “Asia DPA Exchange” on 21 July. This closed-door session brought together representatives of data protection authorities from different jurisdictions to exchange views on their respective priorities and experiences.
On 22 and 23 July, Alain Herrmann is also speaking at the IAPP Asia Forum 2026, one of the Singapore Data Festival’s partner events.
On 22 July, he is participating in the “Regulators’ Roundtable on Agentic AI”. The panel brings together representatives of the data protection authorities of Singapore, the Philippines, the Dubai International Financial Centre and Luxembourg. The discussion focuses on the main regulatory challenges associated with agentic AI, as well as the measures organisations can take to develop and use such systems responsibly and safely.
On 23 July, he is speaking at the session “Certification as a Trusted Mechanism for Cross-border Data Transfers”. The discussion focuses in particular on the role of certification under the GDPR, its application in the Asia-Pacific region and its contribution to ensuring secure international data transfers.
Through this participation, the CNPD is contributing to international discussions on artificial intelligence governance, the responsible use of data and trust mechanisms, while strengthening its exchanges with data protection authorities and stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific region.
