A new partnership between the CNPD and the AEPD to promote data protection

On 13 October 2026, Dr Lorenzo Cotino Hueso, President of the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), and Tine A. Larsen, President of the CNPD, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation between their two authorities over a four-year period.

This framework opens up several avenues for cooperation. In particular, the two authorities will be able to translate and share each other’s publications, jointly develop technical papers, organise expert sessions, exchange best practices and carry out joint research projects.

The CNPD and the AEPD intend to meet at least once a year to discuss key data protection issues, including the security of data processing, privacy by design, privacy-enhancing technologies and emerging technologies.

The CNPD warmly thanks the AEPD and its teams for the trust they have placed in us and for the constructive discussions that led to this agreement. We look forward to this cooperation and to the projects that will emerge from it.
