Data Privacy Day 2023

On 30 January 2023, the CNPD will participate in the “Data Privacy Day” conference organised by the Restena Foundation and the University of Luxembourg as part of the Interntional Data Protection Day. 

Roberta Oertel, head of CNPD’s awareness department, will give a presentation entitled ‘Towards a culture of privacy: awareness and training as key components’

Data Privacy Day is an annual event for individuals interested in data protection and privacy. It is organised as a hybrid event. You can attend the event live or remotely.

‘State of data protection and a look into the future’

09.15 International transfers in a research context: challenges & opportunities’
by Sandrine Munoz, Data Protection Officer, University of Luxembourg

Topic: The research has no border and involves transfer outside European Union & EEA for collaboration with multiple partners and use of platforms and services. After defining what are the criteria to determine a data transfer, the regulatory framework for data transfers will be outlined , including the situation in case of transfers to U.S. The appropriate safeguards in a context of research will be developed with the additional requirements from the EDPB and the derogations briefly presented.
09.45 ‘Towards a culture of privacy: awareness and training as key components’

Topic: People need to understand why privacy matters and the concrete implications that violations of privacy can have on individuals, on the organizations, and on the workforce members involved in a violation. For this, awareness and trainings are key components towards the development of a culture of privacy.
