On 14 March 2023, the CNPD contributed to a workshop entitled "Cybersecurity in primary schools" organised by the Institut de formation de l'éducation nationale (IFEN) as part of the National Cybersecurity Strategy. The event, which took place on the university campus in Esch-Belval, allowed primary school teachers to learn about cybersecurity, media literacy, privacy rights and data protection.
Vincent Legeleux, IT expert at the CNPD, spoke alongside Jacques Federspiel, IT security expert and trainer at BEE SECURE, Igor Loran, graduate psychologist with the Kanner-Jugendtelefon (KJT), and Steve Goedert, head of the Prevention Service of the Grand-Ducal Police. Moderated by cybersecurity expert Steve Muller, the workshop provided answers to recurrent questions such as: How to deal with cyberbullying? What are the responsibilities of teachers in this context? On which digital platform are they allowed to upload personal data - and what is personal data?
The event, which will be repeated twice this year, allowed to identify the concerns and needs of educators sharing their experiences and to come up with concrete approaches oriented to the needs of people in the field. The knowledge gained will contribute to a "toolbox" to be used by primary school teachers as a guide from the start of the 2023-2024 school year.
