Yesterday at the NEXUS Luxembourg 2025 event in Kirchberg/Luxembourg , Alain Herrmann, Commissioner at the CNPD, officially announced a joined initiative between the CNPD and the AI Factory called REMI – Regulation Meets Innovation. His colleague David Benhamou, AI Legal Expert and AI Sandbox Lead at the CNPD, presented further details about the initiative this morning.

REMI is designed to support both regulators and innovators in the fast-paced AI landscape. The objective is to create a shared space that can give rise to smart regulation that is part of the innovation process, not hindering it.
REMI will feature a pool of practices dedicated to AI and regulatory frameworks where innovators can get expert guidance to build compliant and responsible AI technology from conception onward.
The initiative will further offer an AI-focused regulatory sandbox to test AI projects in collaboration with regulators and AI experts before they are launched on the market. These two pillars will contribute to REMI’s mission to promote a practical and collaborative European AI ecosystem as well as to reconcile technological innovation, digital sovereignty and respect for democratic values. Moreover, REMI will establish both Luxembourg and the EU as key player in global AI governance.
