The CNPD shares its experience of regulatory sandboxes at an international panel

The CNPD recently took part in an international panel on regulatory sandboxes for emerging technologies. The event, entitled ‘Regulatory Sandboxes for Emerging Technologies in the Caribbean: Frameworks, Tools, and Global Policy Lessons’, was held on 3 and 4 September 2025 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

Ms Sadia Berdaï, Head of the Artificial Intelligence, Innovation and Digital Department at the CNPD, spoke online during the interactive session: ‘What Has Worked and What Has Not in Sandboxes for AI and Other Emerging Technologies?’ This discussion brought together experts and representatives of regulatory authorities from around the world to share concrete experiences related to regulatory sandboxes in the field of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. Through several case studies, participants explored successes, challenges and key elements for the effective design and implementation of these mechanisms. Ms Berdaï presented the Sandkëscht initiative, Luxembourg's regulatory sandbox, highlighting the lessons learned from this recent experience. She also discussed the projects that have resulted from it, notably Re.M.I., illustrating the dynamic of innovation and collaboration driven by the CNPD.

Participation in this panel demonstrates the CNPD's commitment to actively contributing to international discussions on the regulation of emerging technologies, while sharing best practices from the Luxembourg context.
