On 6 March, the CNPD took part in the " Matinée des experts" organised at the Luxembourg School of Business and Management (ECG) in the presence of Claude Meisch, Minister for National Education, Children and Youth and Minister for Higher Education and Research. The workshop addressed questions on intellectual property and data protection in the field of marketing and communication.
Speakers included Alain Herrmann, Commissioner, and Maxime Dufour, legal expert, alongside representatives of the Luxembourg Institute of Intellectual Property (IPIL) and the communication agency Moskito. In front of an audience of 36 students from the “secondaire” class of the "Marketing, Media, Communication" section, Mr Herrmann and Mr Dufour presented the CNPD's missions and activities before three case studies were submitted for discussion, namely
- a case study integrating communication, marketing, intellectual property and data protection;
- a case study focusing solely on intellectual property; and
- a case study focusing on data protection.
Mr Meisch, whose visit was part of the "Bildung am Dialog" (education in dialogue) initiative, discussed the students’ work with them. At the end of the session, the students presented their findings in five-minute pitches, after which Mr Herrmann and Mr Dufour gave feedback and clarifications on the subject.
The "Matinée des experts" was an excellent opportunity to familiarise high school students with data protection issues, especially in the field of communication. The CNPD would like to thank the ECG and the Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth for organising this rewarding event and the students who participated with interest and enthusiasm.
