On 2 and 3 April 2014, the annual coordination meeting of the "Global Privacy Enforcement Network (GPEN)" was held in Manchester. The event brought together authorities from 34 countries and from different continents who have powers of intervention and/or sanctions for compliance with the protection of privacy.
The National Commission joined this informal cooperation network in October and expects a significant development of its expertise through exchanges of experience, methodology and response capacity in matters concerning cross-border or global activities.
Moreover, the CNPD manifests its willingness to participate more actively in international cooperation between data protection authorities beyond existing EU cooperation across the Article 29 Working Party.
